At the beginning of her recording career Loreena McKennitt was a fairly traditional singer. Over time she began to include influences from the Middle Eastern and Celtic cultures and 'The Mask And Mirror' was a major album, dramatically different from the predecessors. Loreena built on this album and produced 'The Book Of Secrets'. After a long gap 'An Ancient Muse' is another superb album.
